Endgame is, probably, the movie of a generation (No Spoilers)

Since the snap that the “Avengers 4” became the most wanted movie for all comic book fans. The promise of closure and the curiosity about who would get back or not drove to an endless number, probably over fourteen million, of theories. As any regular Joe on the internet, I hate spoilers and I’ll try to not deliver any one during this post.

Avengers Oficial Trailer

The secrets of the movie were kept perfectly in the trailers. They unraveled no more than the first fifteen to twenty minutes and, even in those first chapters, there are some unexpected turn of events. Endgame is a rollercoaster of emotions that leaves no one unaffected, specially the fans that have been reading comic books for ages and watched the last ten years of the MCU.

It’s not easy to write for such a big roster and make each and every character shine but the Russo’s did that. Each character has depth and brings something to the arc. But also, a very big kudos to the actors. It’s really incredible how the MCU was able to cast such a big bunch of actors that really overtake the concept that we had, for each character, on our minds. Robert Downey Junior is the Iron Man, Tom Holland is the Spider-Man, and so on.

An achievement and a major difference if we compare, for instance, with Henry Cavill playing Superman. While the DCEU characters (exceptions for Wonder Woman and Shazam on their solo movies) lack on charisma and depth, the MCU characters are rich and deliver the right expectations. This is the result of eleven years of continuous work instead of trying to mashup everything on a movie (yes, I really feel that Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is horrible).

Probably will write again about it in the near future, most likely when nothing else can be spoiled. The Endgame is a great movie! But it’s not great just by itself, Endgame is the last movie of a well written and conceived saga that proves that’s possible to make movies about comic books respecting the source material and the fans, leveraging well - and not so well - known characters, running away from the clichés, and still deliver a strong and emotive storyline.

It was about time to pass the torch and I think it happened last night. The Avengers’ saga has been always on a crescendo and, for much profane that this might sound, the Russo’s managed to create a more epic saga than Star Wars. Us, true believers, can only thank them for that. Stan Lee and Steve Ditko can only be proud.
